Graphene - revolution of 21st Century
- Graphene is a two dimensional material consisting of a single layer of carbon atoms arranged in a regular hexagonal pattern similar to graphite, but in a one-atom thick sheet!
Aim of the project
- is to develop simple and efficient methods for synthesizing TiO2 catalysts coupled with graphene, and to study their photocatalytic performance under solar radiation for the degradation of various emerging organic pollutants.

Meetings | Workshops
>> 16-17 June 2014: Technical Workshop, UCY campus and NIREAS-IWRC laboratory, Nicosia.
The project activities have ended with the organization of a 2-day technical workshop, at the end of the timeframe of the project. The purpose of this workshop was to disseminate the activities, methods, results and scientific conclusions that arise throughout the duration of the project.
The workshop was held on the 16th and 17th of June 2014, at the University of Cyprus new campus (UCY) premises (Building ΧΩΔ02, room 119) and at the laboratory facilities of NIREAS-IWRC, respectively. The workshop was successful as many stakeholders have participated from various areas of expertise and fields of interest including chemists, environmental scientists, biologists, policy makers, environmental engineers and even high-school students. The first day of the workshop included presentations regarding the project activities and scientific objectives and results, while the second day included laboratory demonstrations of the methods included in PhotoGraph, as well as a visit to the UCY wastewater treatment plant, where the microfiltration pilot unit built for the purposes of PhotoGraph has been placed.

Within the context of the PhotoGraph project, the second meeting between the beneficiary and the project partners was held in Nicosia on 16th December 2013. The meeting took place at the conference room of NIREAS-IWRC at 96, Kyrinias street, in Nicosia.
The main objectives of the meeting were:
- A review of the program actions of each partner until the set meeting date
- Review the project goals and actions which are foreseen by the project guidelines
- Thoroughly discuss and plan the following project actions and time frame
- Discuss on the contribution of each partner as outlined in the Partnership Agreement according to each work package (WP)
- Ensure a shared understanding of the budget, financial obligations and financial flows
- Ensure that the project’s conditions have been met and partner’s obligations have been fulfilled
- Define the actions to take place next and how the partners will go about to fulfill their obligations within the project timeframe
